NSPRMF (Prehistory)
Project Overview:

North Sea Prehistory Research and Management Framework Revision
Status: Complete
Start Date: September 2021
Lead Organisation: Historic England
The project was commissioned due to considerable expansion of the offshore renewable energy sector in the North Sea. The ongoing programmes of archaeological assessment associated with offshore wind Environmental Impact Assessment are revealing considerable detail about past landscapes now submerged and buried in areas not subject previously to detailed survey and analysis. The project outputs ensure that the information and evidence produced from any archaeological work conducted in the North Sea area contributes to greater understanding of the submerged prehistory of the region.
The revised framework has been developed by Landward Research and Wessex Archaeology with support provided by an expert steering group. The updated framework has been produced in a digital format and can be accessed via the Historic England Research Frameworks Platform.
