A baseline review of European Smelt in Suffolk and south Norfolk
Project Focus

This project conducted a baseline review of European smelt populations in Suffolk and south Norfolk, to determine the current knowledge and information gaps on this topic. To achieve this, extensive literature review and stakeholder engagement was conducted. An accessible guide to conduct surveys of European smelt was produced to fill identified gaps.
The impact of this work will help Natural England protect European smelt, a vulnerable and inconsistently protected fish species in the United Kingdom.
