My name is Petko and I’m from Bulgaria. I’m a husband and a father of a cute little girl. I’ve studied Computer Engineering in the Technical University of Sofia. I’m very exited to work for on the MDE project because it has given me a chance to learn a lot about the marine world.
Favourite hobbies: Gaming, Game Development
Favourite marine creature: Hammerhead shark
Party trick: I do really good impressions.
2 truths & a lie:
- I’m very good at table tennis (true).
- I cook very well (also true).
- I like scuba diving (false – I can’t swim)

I have more than a decade of experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer. My main focus is test automation with variety of technologies such as .NET, JavaScript, Python and others.

Responsibilities: As my role title suggests my main focus is to assure the quality of every feature that’s added to the MDE platform.
Why did you choose this career? I’ve always been interested in computers and technologies. This job gives me the chance to learn a lot about them and to express my creativity (in kind of destructive way which is always fun)
What do you love about your job? Seeing the value that we bring to the users every day.
What do you find challenging about your work? The constant need of improving my skills and learning new stuff.

Career Pathway: My path in IT started in high school where I studied Informatics and Mathematics. Next, I took my bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering in Technical University of Sofia. I started my first job in IT right after graduation. We use to build dev tools and libraries. After that I worked for companies in various sectors – healthcare, e-commerce, finance, trading and others. Now it’s marine sector’s turn and I would say is the coolest.
Advise to someone looking to move into the marine/digital/design sector: This is applicable for every sector – don’t be afraid to ask and learn from more experienced people.
