POSEIDON
Project Overview:

POSEIDON: Planning Offshore Wind Strategic Environmental Impact Decisions
Status: Active
Start Date: January 2022
Lead Organisation: Natural England
The project aims to support the UK’s offshore wind development and marine biodiversity recovery. It will provide a robust evidence base and new mapping tools to identify suitable sites for low-impact offshore wind development. POSEIDON will enhance understanding of environmental risks and opportunities for future offshore wind developments, support planning and construction of new wind farms, and create a comprehensive environmental baseline platform. The project has been collating and assessing existing data about seabirds, marine mammals, and the seabed to identify knowledge gaps.
