Wind, Metocean, Climate Change Project (Phase One & Two)
Project Focus

This project is aimed at creating state-of-the-art UK-wide data which tells us wind speed, wave height, tidal current speed across the whole UK EEZ.
The outputs of the WMCC Project will feed into techno-economic models that will allow us to estimate how much energy future wind, wave and tidal energy projects will produce and how much they’ll cost.
These outputs will flow through into multi-sector seabed optimisation in the Whole of Seabed programme. We’re also looking into how climate change might affect these parameters in future, so that we can make sure our plans are resilient.
Location and Timeline:
Location: UK EEZ
Timeline: Phase 1: October 2023 – April 2024 Phase 2: May 2024- May 2025
