Description

This Environmental Statement and accompanying documents describe the construction, operation and decommissioning of a proposed offshore wind farm at Robin Rigg in the Solway Firth, describes the physical and natural environment of the area within which the wind farm would be situated, and assesses the potential effects that the construction, operation and decommissioning of the development would have on the physical, natural and human environment. It also describes the need for renewable energy development within the UK in the context of international agreements on reduction in the emission of climate change gases and the EU, UK and Scottish targets for contribution of renewables to overall energy and electricity production. This volume presents the main Environmental Statement. The detail of this volume is summarised in a separate Non-Technical Summary. These documents are accompanied by a number of detailed technical documents and appendices referred to in the main text which should be read in conjunction with this Statement.
