This study forms chapter 14 of the Stage 2 Preliminary Environmental Information (Stage 2 PEI) of the Rhiannon Offshore Wind Farm, which is part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The study was carried out by Anatec Limited and it describes the existing environment with regard to shipping and navigation and assesses the potential impacts of the Offshore Development area of the proposed Rhiannon Wind Farm (RWF). Data used in this study were from previous survey carried out by Anatec : Benaiah vessel survey in August 2012 which was a 14 day vessel based AIS- Automatic Identification System and Radar data collection survey Isle of Man and Point Lynas Coastal Stations in December 2012 which was another 14 days AIS - Automatic Identification System data collection but from shore based stations at Santon Head on the Isle of Man and Point Lynas in North Wales. And Glenravel vessel survey in May 2013, a 14 days vessel based AIS - Automatic Identification System and Radar data collection survey Non-AIS- Automatic Identification System vessels (mainly recreational vessels and smaller fishing vessels) were also recorded during the Benaiah and Glenravel surveys. These Radar track data were supplemented by manual observations of vessels within visual range to obtain type and size information.
