2008-2009, Resource Decisions, Marine Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (MALSF), Aggregate Supply as part of a sustainable mix
Summary
Sand and gravel are supplied both from land based quarries and, in certain areas of the country, from marine resources. Each mode of extraction, processing and delivery has a wide range of environmental, social and economic implications. The study aims to adapt, develop and test the assessment approach recommended in the feasibility study in two case study areas; and to examine how the wider policy context might accommodate better information on the most sustainable balance of marine and land alternatives.
